The NHL Trade Deadline. For me it is one of the most exciting days in sports because there is always a lot of buildup towards potential blockbuster deals. Most of the time the day doesn’t live up to the hype, but the potential is there and I think that’s what draws so many fans in.
The biggest name out there is Rick Nash, the power forward from Columbus. Rangers fans like myself are particularly interested since his name has been linked with the Rangers for weeks now. If you’d like a recap of all that I suggest visiting Kevin DeLury’s New York Rangers Blog. I’m going to try and highlight all the deals that go down today. You can also monitor activity at TSN”s Trade Center.
Update 3:22pm EST- And that’s a wrap folks. Once again a lot of talk but no real action. The Rangers made one move to add some punch to their blueline but that’s it.
Rangers get Chicago’s hulking 6-8 D John Scott, who mixed it up with Rupp during game at Garden two weeks ago, for #5. Impending UFA.

Update 2:12pm EST- Things starting to roll now. Buzz is the NYR are pushing hard for Rick Nash.
Update 2:02pm EST- Look a real trade! Sort of.
Update 12:50pm EST- Finally another trade. But yawn factor 10.
Update 11:50am EST- Thinking I need to make a comment on the slow progress. It seemed to help last time. Names in play: Rick Nash, Thomas Vokoun, PA Parenteau, Johnny Oduya, Brandon Dubinsky, Roman Hamerlik, Paul Gaustad.
