Happy Thanksgiving

Posted on 27 November 2008 by Ed Z

Thanksgiving

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

Space Oops

Space Oops

Watch out for
falling tools
.

.

Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper
watched helplessly as the kit drifted away from her as she
serviced the solar array system on the orbiting platform.

The briefcase-sized tool bag
is one of the largest items ever lost on a spacewalk.

The event occurred during
the first spacewalk of the latest shuttle flight to the ISS, which
is intended to give the orbiting platform a major makeover.

How about a rope?  No rope in the NASA budget?  And
the article states, "the briefcase-sized tool bag is one of the largest
items ever lost on a spacewalk".  One of the largest?  What else
are the losing up there?

Good thing her keys weren’t in the bag.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day

Posted on 11 November 2008 by Ed Z

My grandfather, my father and my closest friend are veterans. Though I am
not, I try to understand the sacrifices they and all veterans have made for our
country.

My words are like breath on a cold day, visible only for a moment, a
scattered memory. I hope my actions last longer, and truly honor those who have
given the ultimate sacrifice.

God bless you all.

President Barack Obama

Posted on 05 November 2008 by Ed Z

Congratulations to our new President, Barack Obama. And while he is not the
man I voted for, he is my President nonetheless. My disappointment is tempered
with a sense of pride. We’ve come a long was as a country, and I only wish the
first black president could have been a Republican.

I may not agree with his philosophies or his plan, and I am also wary of his
relationships, but I will stand by my President. I hope to use my voice to
remind him that there are many of us who share his passion for change, but would
like to review alternative paths to that end.

I hope I never see the same vitriol, the obsessive hatred and mouth foaming
nonsense, directed at Obama that we’ve seen toward the current President. I know
you won’t see it here.

In the end, we’re all Americans, and maybe now we can be closer as Americans.
God bless our country.

Stray Finger

Saw this on Drudge, and I immediately remembered an incident where he was
accused of doing the same to Hillary.

I was skeptical with the Hillary video, but now this does seem like a
trend.  Well, you stay classy Barry.
